BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Education Minister joined the APEC Second Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2) and related meetings today at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, to discuss issues on the topic "Quality Education for Sustainable Development." This is one of the key topics raised by the APEC Human Resources Development Working Group.

Minister of Education Treenuch Thienthong shared her vision on the impact of COVID-19 on education and how to ensure a strong resilience at the 39th Education Network Meeting (EDNET). Not only she was able to share how Thailand’s education is rebounding from the pandemic, but she was also able to take away some solid and valuable information Thailand could use to improve educational resilience.

I think this is ok and this is how it goes. The rich Thais/Thai-Chinese and Chinese send their kids to international schools to run things as they are being run now into the furure and the poor kids go to underfunded schools with overcrowded classrooms, little to no IT so 21st Century teaching methods are nigh on impossible and burnt out teachers to maintaimn resilience in the factories and on the fields/farms.

"Educational Resilience"?

I think she's saying - her English is dreadful in the conference video - she struggles with the word "resilience" - that thailand was woefully unprepared to deal with educating students remotely during the pandemic. And maybe the MoE will come up with a plan and do better next time.
