BANGKOK (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) intends to address air pollution issues in all areas and elevate air quality to international standards.

According to BMA deputy permanent secretary Chatree Wattanakhajorn, the BMA is planning to raise the PM2.5 safety standard to 37.5 micrograms per cubic meter (?g/m3) from the current 50 ?g/m?.

The agency also sets a goal of lowering the capital’s annual PM2.5 rating from 25 to 15 ?g/m?, aligning with World Health Organization standards.

To meet these targets, BMA officials will work with other government agencies to prioritize addressing the underlying causes of air pollution. Pollution control operations will improve to meet new safety standards, and Bangkok residents will be encouraged to take steps such as car maintenance or reducing car usage to help improve air quality.

BMA officials added that Euro 6 exhaust standards will be imposed on cars this year in order to reduce exhaust emissions. Authorities also intend to eliminate the use of oil fuel containing more than 10ppm in the Bangkok metropolitan region by 2024.

Well after the crazy ideas they had of pushing water back up the river or making it rain I guess know someone has "discovered  a method to, and will be proposing, of pumping more air into the Bangkok metropolitan area thus diluting the pollution already there. Who knows they may claim it as another brilliant Thai invention, just like so many that have come and gone.  ????

Nothing they've done has worked so far, so good luck with the new targets.

Pollution should be ok for a while, the PM is abroad with the man with the Mr Magoo brain

Hahahaha. These guys just crack me up!

They've been saying this for literally decades.

I have an idea, do just like they do in London, charge a toll for entering the city. Problem solved.

Maybe they could start by making sure all truck carrying fill soil are covered and the wheels cleaned after leaving the site and before entering the highway. Start with the 15km region of Bang Na Trad highway. And why not have a "hot line/ email address" where people can report offenders. Oh sorry that would mean enforcing the rules.

How many times have we heard this? Hot air!

We've tried nothing and are all out of ideas

No mention of the burn off? ????

The real cause right in front of their shinning little faces.  ????
