Tennis - Iga Swiatek extended her winning streak to a record 36th match with a straight-set victory over qualifier Jana Fett at Wimbledon. 

 

The world number one beat the Croat 6-0 6-3 but Serena Williams' hopes of a victorious return to Wimbledon after a year out ended with a loss to Harmony Tan.

 

The American who is 40 now, returned to the Centre Court but was beaten  7-5 1-6 7-6 (10-7). Spain's Rafael Nadal continued his bid for a calendar year Grand Slam by fighting off Francisco Cerundolo to win on his return to Wimbledon  6-4 6-3 3-6 6-4 .

 

Athletics - Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare  has been handed an extra one-year ban for additional doping violations to add to her existing 10-year suspension. 

 

In February, the 33-year-old was handed her original ban for "multiple breaches of anti-doping rules". She was suspended during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics after failing a drug test.

 

Cricket - England's World Cup-winning captain Eoin  Morgan has confirmed his retirement from international cricket.Under Morgan, England won the 2019 World Cup and reached the top of the one-day and Twenty20 rankings.
