Senior doctors at Siriraj hospital and Mahidol University in Bangkok are calling on the government to reimpose Covid restrictions including mandatory face masks, to cope with the highly contagious   BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants,

 

Thailand along with 10 other countries is seeing a rapid jump in Covid infections, The doctors said action should be taken now before there is a shortage of hospital beds.

 

A government committee deliberating health funding for next year fears the decriminalization of cannabis could have an adverse impact on tourism as the weed is still not legal in many countries.

 

Questions were asked about the length of time the cannabis stays in the body. Critics say the government has not introduced enough regulation to prevent it from being abused.


Thai health authorities have allocated a 204 billion baht budget for hospitals and medical services next year, an increase of more than 5 billion baht over this year. 

 

The universal healthcare "gold card" scheme will cover Covid, and new traditional cannabis based treatments. 

 

Bangkok’s BMTA says it intends to use private  companies  to operate 224 electric buses in order to boost capacity so it can serve up to one million passengers per day. Bus and train services in the capital have seen a 20 percent increase in passengers since the price of fuel increased.

China: Shanghai has announced two new rounds of mass COVID-19 testing of most of its 25 million residents over a three-day period, citing the need to trace infections linked to a karaoke lounge.

 

People living in the affected districts would be required to show a test taken within the last two days, in order to leave their homes.

 

Hong Kong’s leader John Lee has vowed to reduce the quarantine period for incoming travellers, while at the same time controlling the risk of potential outbreaks to minimize the number of severe coronavirus cases, through regular PCR testing.
