Lingvosoft Flashcard Builder

Featured Replies

I’ve got the Lingvosoft Dictionary, Phrasebook and Flashcards for Windows and Pocket PC. The Flash cards have a utility that lets you create custom word lists which is good because many of their words are not so useful. For instance in the Food category I don’t need to know the Thai for many foods you never see here and in most cases it’s just a Thinglish. But there are many foods here that I’d like to get a list of and work on. The utility can import files in a pretty simple structure delimited or Excel.

Two Questions:

  • Anyone using Lingvosoft Flashcards and have custom lists?
  • Any sources for public domain word lists? Best would be English, Thai and transliteration w/ part of speech.

Thanks

I can't help you with the flashcards question, but I've got a question about the dictionary for you. I've got a copy of the 2007 Lingvosoft Dictionary (Pocket PC). It works fine on Thai->English translation, but if you try English->Thai there are no above/below vowels displayed in the results... which makes it useless. I'm currently using another (Ectaco) dictionary to translate English->Thai and only using the Lingvosoft for Thai->English.

Have you found the same problem?

I don't have this problem.

I did have a lot of problems with Thai WinCE Pro Thai system fonts and dictionary installed with the Lingvosoft prodocts. I think Thai WinCE Pro came with my Dopod 838Pro. I uninstalled those and use Thai-G and now it's OK.

On an O2 Atom I have Thai WinCE Pro and Lingvosoft and don't have issues.

You should contact their support - it should work.

Good luck,

Hi, its quite a co-incidence, but I'm also using Thai-G on an O2 Atom. I've tried the dictionary without this installed, still the same problem. This should have no effect (as having Thai-G/WinCE isn't a requirement for the Lingvosoft software).

I'll see what their tech support have to say.

The reason I use Thai-G or WinCe is for the system fonts. Without those Thai comes in as the square boxes. Lingvosoft doesn't seem to have this in their install. But on their forum they put a file up on a FTP site for the fonts. I wonder if you install this it might help? Maybe uninstall other sw you don't use? http://www.lingvosoft.com/posts/list/8440.page

a thought...
