Football - Erik Ten Hag's reign as the new Manchester United manager got off to a good start with an emphatic win over English Premiership rivals Liverpool in the Bangkok Centenary Cup held at the Rajamangla stadium in the Thai capital last night.  In front of both teams adoring supporters they won 4-0.

Eight-time Women's European champions Germany defeated Spain 2-0 to secure top spot in Group B at Euro 2022 and Denmark kept their hopes of progressing from Group B alive as they overcame a determined Finland 1-0. They have now set up a winner-takes-all meeting against Spain on Saturday.

Athletics - Commonwealth Games organisers have barred Northern Ireland sprinter Leon Reid from competing in Birmingham in the UK following a security risk assessment. 2018 Games medallist Reid was found guilty in February of allowing his apartment to be used to produce crack cocaine.

The 27-year-old was handed a suspended sentence and ordered to do 220 hours of unpaid work by a UK court. Reid was named in Northern Ireland's team but the Birmingham 2022 organising committee has now denied him entry.

F1 - Former Formula 1 race director Michael Masi has formally left motorsport's governing body, the FIA. The move comes four months after an FIA inquiry found "human error" was responsible for the incorrect application of the rules in the 2021 title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

An FIA statement said "Mr. Masi decided to leave the FIA and relocate to Australia to be closer to his family and take on new challenges".
