Serious erosion in the north of Thailand caused by the monsoon has meant that parts of Thailand have literally been washed away.

This is true on the waterway that marks the border between Thailand and Myanmar in Chiang Rai province known as Nam Sai - Nam Ruak.

The local authorities were out in force pointing to many places where the Thai side of the border river has crumbled away in the area of Pa Sang Ngam village.

Measurements were being made of how much of Thailand had been lost, reported 77kaoded.

A man with an umbrella who held the tape measure steadfastly refused to point.

At one point the officials double-pointed at a post.

Others pointed at the camera or did a slam dunk point.

One man in a white shirt who looked as though he knew what he was doing, pointed at a tape measure.

In other places a road has disintegrated and there has been other subsidence caused by the monsoon rains.

Thanks to the ASEAN NOW news team for pointing this out.

I disagree with you there , If I had not done that years

ago I , i would most likely have nowt today. bought

very cheaply after the bubble burst , and interest

rates began to fall , they all paid for themselves ,

through renting, so they are now assets that owe

me nothing, now I would not do that today ,property

too expensive , less Farangs to rent long term.

Can we get an interview as to why?  I'm deeply concerned about this umbrella guy, and his lack of pointing is a tell.  A strong tell.   Maybe even a clue to some hidden treasure.  He knows something!!!!

By the time I got to the last picture, I was LMAO - this should be put in the Humor section

Lucky the cameraman had a point and shoot to hand ????

Looking at those photos I guess they are the local line dancing party

Always amusing to see Thais pointing at things.

a beautiful grouping, the symmetry is superb - should have hid the umbrella behind the group though. 8 out of 10.

Got to love the Thai sense of humour.....  (77kaoded) and the of course the ’selective’ quoting of said article...

It appears that many of the photographed officials have achieved at least diploma level in pointing lol ????????????????

Caption competition................What is the guy in the baseball cap at centre thinking about the guy holding the umbrella........................

I have never seen so many southpaws in one place.

That is some serious pointing going on there.

Rivers eroding banks, changing direction... who'd have thought?

many years ago we bought a piece of land beside the Ping river north of Chieng Mai;  the land actually grew larger and according to Thai law the extra land was ours.  Did not help much as we had bought at the peek of the land buying frenzy.
