The cabinet has approved a total budget of 10.9 billion baht, spread over the 2023 to 2027 fiscal years, for the construction of a new zoo in the outskirts of Bangkok, with a mini zoo to be trialled for the public in August, a partial opening scheduled for 2026 and the full opening in 2028, according to Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek.

The new zoo is to be located on a 48-hectare land in Rangsit sub-district of Pathum Thani province, which was donated by His Majesty the King.

Rachada said that the international-standard zoo will also serve as a learning centre for the study of nature, wildlife, conservation, for research and wildlife propagation as well as a recreational ground for ecotourism.

So the F35 purchase money which was scrapped, was moved to build a Zoo...what in Buddha's name is wrong with this government.  The money needs to be spent on Indastructure projects to widen highways, make roads safer etc...but no they need another zoo after all those that have been mismanaged have been closed. For feces sake.

A zoo?

A high priority item?

Where is the benefit to the imprisoned animals, unemployed Thais, underskilled Thais, an over-stressed public health care system, .....?

Must be an important minister residing in Pathumthani

Poor animals.

I now find Zoos disgusting places.  When will I be able to buy a big cat kitten from this zoo ? or any other endangered species.

pay no mind to the youth...cause its not like the future depends on it.....but save animals in the zoo...cause the chimpanzee them a make big money

No, that's just nonsense.  Where did you get that information from?  That was rhetorical.  Obviously, you didn't get that information anywhere.

Dusit Zoo was not reported to have been mismanaged and did not close for that reason.  It closed as part of the long-planned move to relocate to a much larger area, gifted by the King.

No, that's a circus dominated by clowns.
