Siam Rath reported on the collapse of a ceiling at a building in a temple in the north east of Thailand.

A video of the incident was being widely shared on Thai social media.

Several monks and novices were busy praying on Monday afternoon when the ceramic tiles started to collapse.

Within seconds a huge section of the ceiling was raining down on the saffron clad holy men.

It happened at Wat Chantharasee in Ban Nong Bua, Muang district.

It followed torrential rain for a day and night with an initial investigation ascertaining that rain got in and the ceiling was unable to bear the weight.

Fortunately the monks were only slightly injured.
