Better left to a native speaker, but I believe the latter part Saengdee translates to 'Good light' (saeng is light, dee is good) แสงดี.

When Thai is written in Roman letters, a lot of important information in the words is left out.

Saichai might be a number of things. Perhaps something like 'Clarity/brightness of heart/soul' สายใจ, but then again I could be completely wrong too.

The second is a surname. Your daughter's name means to/from/link to the heart and is typical of the sentiment felt on the birth of a first-born child. Only one opinion, and as in all Thai, it's what you feel that counts not so much what you say. for instance, literally, sai is the classifier for rivers and things which flow, but it also links, so the child is the link between the parents. This is not mine but got from conversation with a native Thai speaker.

My husband agrees with your friend's assessment of link to the heart. It is a girls name and is fairly common.
