The Election Commission announced that campaigning  for the next general election will begin on Sept. 24 with several parties already gearing up for the big day.

 

Three Chinese nationals have been arrested for allegedly operating a prostitution ring, their arrests follwed a complaint by a woman from  Kyrgyzstan who said she was being chased by a Chinese gang after escaping from forced prostitution in Pattaya and Bangkok.


The head of Pattaya police station has been transferred after the woman’s body was found on Friday having fallen from an apartment building.

 

The government is planning to ban the import of plastic waste from 2025, a move that will be carried out in phases over the next three years.

 
There are 14 plants  in free trade zones, which will be allowed to import plastic waste until 2024, after that 50 percent of imported scrap could be plastic.


The minister for the environment said Thailand produces just under 25 million tonnes of household waste per year, and only 32% is properly managed. 


Four tourists from Saudi Arabia, three adults and a child, were injured after a go-kart they were riding veered off the road and hit a concrete power post in Phuket, all were taken to hospital.

China: Twenty-seven people died en route to a COVID-19 quarantine facility  when their bus crashed in Guizhou, southwest China. Twenty people were being treated for injuries.


Taiwan: A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the southern Taiwan yesterday causing some trains to be derailed, and at least one building to collapse, two people were trapped beneath a 7/11 store. 68 people were trapped in mountains when roads became impassable.
