Liz Truss admits UK trade deal with US is not on the agenda

Featured Replies

I’m almost inclined to give Truss a point for honesty, given the comparison to the lies about this issue that preceded her.

However the fact that the US isn’t going to give the UK a trade deal while the British Government play poker with peace in Ireland is no secret (refer ‘Project Fear’ files).

I don’t suppose the PM’s hand picked Chief of Staff being caught up in an FBI investigation into attempts to corrupt an election in US territory help either.

The very junior partner will do as Washington demands.

The UK have been backside lickers of USA for too long.

The UK has lost its chance to trade with China and Russia and its all too late now.

I don’t believe the UK will not trade with Russia and China, nor do I think the UK performs such services to the US.

It is however very clear that many Britons have an inflated view of the nation’s place in the world.
