Good Samaritan helps 10-year-old Chinese-American girl trudging on lonely road

Police helped a 10-year-old Chinese-American girl found walking alone on a roadside in Chonburi province on Wednesday night on her way to Bangkok reunite with her father.

The girl said she was heading for Suvarnabhumi airport to try to catch a flight to see her mother in China, according to police.

They said the girl was found by a good Samaritan,  later identified as Poommiphat Chaichana who was driving on a dimly-lit road in Chonburi when she spotted her trudging alone with a knapsack on her back.

Poommiphat  later told reporters that he stopped the girl and tried unsuccessfully to communicate with her since she didn’t speak Thai.  He later had his employer on his phone to talk to the girl who said she intended to walk all the way to Suvarnabhumi airport, which is about 70 kilometres away, hoping to catch a flight to China.

What is a 10 year old doing out and about on her own, this story does not sound to be true, as Steven100 pointed out above did she have the necessary papers & money to travel & being only 10 would she be able to board an international flight on her own?

Is it possible that the girl is  cognitively lacking the ability to judge reality from fantasy?...

Did you never run away from home as a kid? I certainly did, on more than one occasion. I got as far as the railway station once when I was about nine. I didn't have enough money for a ticket, but a nice policeman called my mother.

Chinese - American girl, living in Thailand, with her mother living in China.

Must be more to this story.  Perhaps the grandmother is living in China, whom may have been her primary carer in the past.

Possibly left unsupervised, and ran away.

The fact she is only 10 means she probably doesnt know about these things...

Jeez...

What a sad story.

And posters here discuss about her having documents, money for ticket bla bla.

Unbelievable.

She is a 10 year old and obviously homesick/desperate.

(just seen post above)

Well done the Thai guy that stopped to talk to her.

The the innocent girl, maybe with some kind of family problem,  was lucky not to be seen by some driver with other intentions, I don't think that at that time it is safe to walk alone on those roads.

Does the photograph (above), showing a female, purport to be the subject 10 year old or is she the Chinese speaking 'boss'?

The real question is who was taking care of her in Thailand, and that she felt she had to escape?

yes the story doesn't explain much at all ....

If she's the girl in the 'photo she looks much older than 10 years of age.

A lot more Chinese American in Thailand,  can't speak Thai!

If she is where is the Father or Guardian who should be American since the mother is in China. So much missing like always.

Thanks to the good Thai Samaritian!

This story is so messed up.. is she going to see her father or her mother.  and what the heck is she doing out there all by herself.  Too many un-answered questions.
