Yes this might seem a silly question and my gut feeling is why not?
I know normally people do not send greetings but this changing but advise please is it ok ore will it be frowned on if sending one to a close Thai family on the first occasion of a loss of a loved one?

Thanks Tropicalevo
On reflection agree with you but did send Thinking of you all today and know what today is and think very appropriate and do send other nice ones also to one or two members of the family.
Thanks again and have a nice day and the best today and future ok

Not sure what the 1st occasion means but mostly I would think not necessary to remind someone of sadness

Don't know what a krathang is ???? if anyone says anything to me i just say hope your Krathong don't sink.

Yeah bad idea TIT

This is definitely a difficult matter to tackle and saying or writing anything the "right" way, however well-intentioned, can lead to more emotional upset. The nature of the "difficulty" is that Loi Krathong is a celebration and a death in the family is obviously the opposite. Combining these opposites (not a greeting) is extremely tricky.

Maybe a solution is to send a "sympathy" card - which is far a more important message to send, leaving out any mention of the Loi Krathong aspect.

1st occasion or 1st anniversary of a lost one?

Either way no-one really needs to be reminded.
