Interesting article. I'm trying to learn more about Buddhism and this is the first time I've seen Buddha's teachings at a very metophoric level. Makes me wonder how much of his teachings is up to interpretation, i.e. if the language in the scripture allows us to minimize the use of our own filters to understand his teachings.

Although most of the article seems familiar to me, the Buddhism I'm familiar with is on a much more literal plane. The cycle of births, attaining a nirvana, etc. are all "real". I remember stories about Buddha my mother told me growing up - that he was a chick, a deer, etc. in his past lives as he progressed up the karma chain all the way to his ultimate ain't-no-coming-back state.

BTW, who's Goeff Hunt? I googled him and didn't find the Hunt that's related to Buddhism.
