November 14, 20223 yr HI all, As the title says - apologies if this has been covered recently, I couldn't see anything when searching the forum on this topic. The wife and I are planning a 4 week trip to Thai to see the in-laws in early 2023. Just wondering if anyone can give some advice. I have a prescription from an Australian doctor for 100 mg CBD oil and also 26mg THC oil, and would like to bring some medication from Oz. The packaging has a label from the pharmacy with prescription details including my name, doctor's name, and the details of the medicine printed on both boxes. Would I also need a letter from my doctor? The online info on Thai embassy websites regarding bringing in psychotropic medicines seem to be about opiates, benzos and the like. I can't see anything about cannabis. Do I understand correctly that THC cannabis oils are not legally available for sale in Thailand? TIA and also thanks to everyone for the great info available in the health and medicine forum.
November 14, 20223 yr Author Thanks - do they sell THC oil? I would very much prefer to bring my own medication as I can accurately dose and also know exactly what is in the medication.
November 14, 20223 yr When I took a ...... load of different medicine (personal use, but 2 years supply) with me from Europe to Thailand. (This was prescription drugs ONLY) I had the following 1- Letter from Doctor 2- Letter from the Medical Board that the Doctor actually is a Doctor 3- I took that letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs 4- I took the letter from MFA to the Thai Embassy and they stamped it. It was a bit of running around, but upon arriving in Thailand they started to make a fuss but when I produced the letter from the Thai Embassy they let me through NO hassle. Maybe a bit over the top, but it worked for me.

November 15, 20223 yr While cannabis is legal to buy in Thailand there are still legal restrictions on bringing it in. You need a permit. See this site https://permitfortraveler.fda.moph.go.th/nct_permit_main/

See this site https://permitfortraveler.fda.moph.go.th/nct_permit_main/ Thank you Sheryl, much appreciated. After looking at the fda site I can see that cannabis medicine is classed as category V. Regulations for travellers haven't been implemented yet.
November 15, 20223 yr Yes, you are right. So at present not legal to import it. (Protectionism is a big part of this - vested interests in Thailand see cannabis production as a major money earner).
