Newt Gingrich praises Biden, warns GOP against underestimating president

WASHINGTON — President Biden recently received praise — backhanded and qualified, but praise all the same — from one of the figures least likely to offer a favorable assessment of a Democratic administration: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

In a new column published on his website, Gingrich offers his own party a blunt warning: “Republicans must learn to quit underestimating President Joe Biden.”

It is a remarkable concession for a man who practically invented modern-day partisan combat, which allows for little concession or compromise.

I'll always remember Newt for the bj in the car incident, and his justification when it became public knowledge: I did it for love of country.

Sounds like the confession of a man about to meet his Maker....or merely clearing the ground for his Legacy.

What a sad and unnecessary comment!

Gingrich is a notably sad character.

“Republicans must learn to quit underestimating President Joe Biden.”

Republicans might want to have a go at coming up with some policies that aren’t based on distracting those marginally above poverty with hatred of those less fortunate while handing tax breaks to the hyper wealthy.

Which Marxist book did that quote come out of?

Well, if you want to call economy reality the text of a Marxist book, go right ahead if that makes you feel better. For example, most Americans want to extend Obamacare Medicaid benefits to people who can't afford health insurance. In 7 states governed by Republicans,  its citizens voted it in via referendum. In Texas, 66% support it, but the government has refused to enact it.

The Republicans opposed increased funding of the IRS after years of starving it for funds. Starving it to protect the wealthy from having their tax shenanigans investigated.

It’s a quote from Newt Gingrich. Refer article at the top of this thread.

I don't think the GOP has to worry about Biden. Rather worry about who is behind him.

However, he's right that the GOP should not take anything for granted. They have 2 years to get it right- don't waste it.

I'll always remember him for the mess he made against Clinton. Perhaps he's learned some stuff since then.

So, you disagree with Rick Scott's "tax the poor" plan?   :cheesy:

A plan best read by gaslight.

Posted with good intentions, same to be said of the performers.
