A dead dugong was discovered deceased off the coast of the Sattahip district near the Marine Police bridge.

The corpse was found by Sattahip first responders on Monday, December 5th. The dugong was female, weighing more than 300 kg, measuring about 3 meters in length, and aged 6-7 years old. Sattahip officials examined the dugong’s carcass but could not identify its cause of death.

The officials said it was a shame that such a large and beautiful dugong had died so soon. They suspected that it might have eaten something contaminated as no wounds were found on the body. The carcass would be transferred to a lab to be examined further to find its cause of death.

Lured back by cleaner waters during Covid, killed by the recovery?

Sad to lose such a beautiful creature.

Another one ? Seems if Thailand cannot eat the sea life, they are happy to kill it off
