The Journey to THB 1,000,000 THB donation

Since its creation and through relentless determination, even during the pandemic, The Hope Fair community has continuously supported the Mercy Center with donations. At their 32nd event on December 1st, The Hope Fair organizers, vendors and visitors celebrated the completion of the 1-million-baht donation goal to the Mercy Center.

For the past 8 years, The Mercy Center has received regular donations from the organization, and allocated the funds to repairing school roofs, providing fans and stationery to preschools students, and purchasing washing machines and wardrobes for their orphanage. All the exhibitors presenting their products at The Hope Fair donate to the Mercy Centre.

The Hope Fair was established in 2014 to provide a live platform to Bangkok’s conscious shoppers to connect with artisans, entrepreneurs and sustainable businesses in order to better access products and services made with love and ethics.

Shoppers can browse more than 150 stalls in a spacious and elegant venue, meeting entrepreneurs with passion while discovering natural products, handmade fashion pieces, international gourmet treats, local services, and educational games and accessories for kids. The Hope Fair events are held 4 times a year only, in March, May, September and December.

By supporting the vendors, visitors kept the event running for the past 8 years. Our generous visitors have also made an impact by bringing their own donations to the Mercy Centre in the form of gently-used items such as clothes, shoes, and household goods, which the nonprofit organization redistributes to the families in need in Bangkok’s many underprivileged communities.

The Mercy Center builds and operates schools, improves family health and welfare, protects street children’s rights, combats the AIDS crisis, responds to daily emergencies, and offers shelter to orphans, street children, and children and adults with AIDS. The Mercy Center also provides housing construction or repair, drug rehabilitation, legal documentation, and financing, as well as responding to emergencies such as slum fires and domestic abuse, which occurs much too often due to the number of urban poor.

By keeping the event free of charge for visitors, The Hope Fair keeps attracting expats and locals, and is well known for a fun day of shopping. The Hope Fair has also kept its booth rental fee at a stable and fair price for the vendors ensuring the return of the most popular ones and the debut of new ones at each event, for the pleasure and excitement of the visitors.

The Hope Fair’s goals are to continuously support the Mercy Center by providing successful retail exhibitions to Bangkokians, showcasing designers with sustainable practices and creative expression, featuring useful products and services, and making all stakeholders of the community active participants through donations.
