August 1, 20241 yr Hi all! I am looking for any recommendations for builders in krabi, ao nang area. I have a bit of land and am looking to build a small 2 bed villa with pool. Struggling to find anyone at the mo and hope to move out in next few months. Obviously will have to rent somewhere but am hoping to get some things moving before I get out there. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks
December 7, 20241 yr did you find any builders? Im looking to build pool villa in krabi early 2025 as well
December 25, 20241 yr Krabi news seems like it all goes into a black hole and is never seen, lol. We have been pondering buying a spot there for a base to travel down south but agents are very lightly interested in showing - mind you I understand now that tyhe high season has everyone running full tilt...we will speak with them again in march/april to see if it is a better time. Trying to get info inm Thai or English, about the experience people have living there is very hard compared to other locations...wonder why/ I know of no builders but suppose it is costly as the town itself is almost like its on an island, long road in Good luck

November 14, 2025Nov 14 Good luck with your new build. Exciting times to realise a dream that many here have. I hope all goes well and please update us here as it goes. A friend of mine did same in Cha-Am and used a Bangkok company to do a fantastic job on a two storey house with pool and garden sala etc. Costly, but excellent quality.

As all the local contractors around the Hua Hin area are for many, just a bunch either of quacks who appear to hire rice farmers from Burma to do the jobs and who cheat on the materials used, overcharge and many have really no idea on construction. Not all but far to many. It's all a different story from Bangkok or even Pattaya where the contractors charge much less, use better materials and seem to have better knowledge.

February 25Feb 25 Thanks I have built 2x houses in Australia in my time (2008 and Queensland, 2015 in Perth WA), so understand the frustrations 555. Never built in Thailand before so we will see how this one goes. I work away and 'fly in fly out' so I have a local contractor to assist with overseeing day to day and QA checks and discussion with builder on my behalf.I will the thread active and post progress updates for anyone interested. Builder aiming to complete the house by July 2026.
March 4Mar 4 Popular Post Bit of reinforcement going in for the ring beams, was a bit worried about floor level being too low but the ground will be cut back so patio floor level will be 200mm above ground (there is a slight slope in the block).Builder installed 4G camera so I can check progress while away.Hopefully get the ring beam concrete done next week.

I don't think it's particularly accurate to assess someone's ability on geographical location. Our 5000 square foot shop and 6 bed adjoining house had the main contractor from Kanchanaburi using Laos labour, the architect/QC we flew down from Chiang Rai, the kitchen and joinery was from Cha Am and the 18 air con units were installed by SCG. I had input into each stage , double checked the costings and treble checked the specifications.Professional and meticulous planning, constant monitoring and no cost cutting will deliver the quality.

I also have a third party QA guy doing regular inspections for me. He has picked up some minor issues.

Also prices have increased so unlikely he will quote same per meter rate now.

Genuine question, as I am thinking of doing the same.Maybe government authorities would never even get that far considering the extent of illegal nominee companies but if they did knock on your door, would this stand up to scrutiny?
