Hang Co train station had retained its European architecture until its destruction during the U.S.’s Operation Linebacker II on December 21, 1972. During the operation that lasted from December 18 to 29, Hanoi’s airports, railroad stations and warehouses were among the hardest hit. During the Vietnam War (1955-1975), Hang Co Station was a major transit point to send aid to Vietnamese forces in the south.
