“It was a hobby that got out of hand,” says Edwin Wiek, founder of the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT).

For more than 20 years Edwin has courageously fought to save abused and exploited animals in Thailand.

He first moved to Thailand in 1989 and in the following years ran a successful business making fashion accessories.

“Back then I was successful but I was working constantly and spent a lot of time on the road,” Edwin told Hua Hin Today.

Thailand is leading the fight is it..... I beg to differ....do the elephants still dance at Nong Nooch, the tigers still have to perform for their food in Sri Racha, the crocodiles still be abused at shows and snakes thrown around? Are the Lemurs back on Walking St?

Edwin chose here for a reason......

The tiger zoo in Pattaya is suspect.  A staff member, when quizzed by my daughter admitted that some of the cubs never made it to adulthood but ended up on the dinner plate of Chinese old men who have never heard of Viagra.

What about cock fighting?

Well... They are not technically wild animals.  But yes, it's cruel too.  Got to start somewhere though.
