The anti-corruption agency has been asked to investigate executives of the State Railway of Thailand and others over the 33-million baht contract for the new nameplate and logo redesign for Bangkok’s BangSue Grand Central Station. The SRT has since suspended the signs replacement.

The ministry of transport has set up a committee to look into the awarded contract and is expected to announce it’s findings within 15 days.

 

Immigration officers have arrested 2 Chinese nationals in Chaingmai and Nonthaburi, each are wanted in China on separate charges, one is suspected of cryptocurrency fraud and the other for running a fake credit card company, 
Both are expected to be extradited back to China.

A study has been conducted ito construction of a new ring road around the northern part of the capital,  easing traffic congestion out towards Saraburi, 
The new 19 kilometer road has been budgeted at 33 billion baht, with construction likely to start next year. 
 

The government has approved a budget of 100 billion dollars or 3.35 trillion baht for next year 2024, with an estimated budget deficit of 695 billion baht, or around 3.3 percent of the country's annual GDP. 

 

Finally,  riday the 5th of May will be an extra public holiday to cover the long weekend from Thursday May 4th,  which is Coronation day. With the inclusion of substitute holidays there will be 24 public holidays this year..

China has suspended issuing some visas for South Korea and Japan in retaliation against Covid-related curbs on Chinese travellers.
