Trump Tightens Ceasefire Deadline as Putin Continues Attacks

President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin, demanding an urgent ceasefire in Ukraine. Visiting the UK, Trump expressed disappointment with Putin following Russia's latest wave of drone and missile strikes on Ukraine. The president has now shortened the ceasefire deadline from 50 days to just 10 or 12 days, threatening more severe sanctions and tariffs if Russia fails to comply.

In the early hours of Monday, Poland and NATO scrambled aircraft in response to a significant Russian assault. Hundreds of drones and missiles targeted various locations in Ukraine, prompting heightened readiness among Polish and allied forces. The attack lasted for about three hours, during which most drones and missiles were intercepted or neutralised; however, several still managed to strike their targets.

A drone crossing from Belarus into Lithuania highlighted growing regional tensions. Lithuanian officials confirmed the incident as part of Russia’s strategy of using Belarusian airspace for northern attacks on Ukraine. A search for the drone remains ongoing, underscoring the persistent threat faced by countries bordering the conflict.

In Kyiv, a Russian drone hit a residential building, injuring at least eight people as Ukrainian forces worked to strengthen their air defences. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks and reiterated the need for sanctions and strengthened defensive measures against Russia. NATO’s response to the incursion is seen as a test of the alliance’s resolve, with drones probing into Baltic airspace.

Zelenskyy emphasised the continuous efforts to enhance Ukraine's air shield, expressing the importance of international cooperation to fill funding gaps for drone production. As restoration efforts continue, particularly in restoring electricity supplies, the Ukrainian leadership remains focused on securing additional support from global partners.

Russia's Defence Ministry claimed its forces downed seven Ukrainian drones, highlighting the ongoing aerial contest over Ukrainian skies. The situation remains tense as the international community watches closely, awaiting Russia's response to Trump's newly imposed deadline.

Unfortunately this will fall on deaf ears. Sanctions and tariffs won't bother him. Russian forces continue to gain ground on the eastern front of Ukraine with Povrosk, Kostiantynivika and Siversk looking like they'll be lost. Along with this the Russian economy, unlike many wish to think, is not on the verge of collapse. Putin will stop when he has achieved what he wants. I hope I'm wrong and Trump can force a ceasefire but I doubt it..

Could be a 10 year war until Ukraine finally gives up.  Europe will have to absorb millions of Ukrainian who leave.

Not sure about 10 years. Thing with protracted attritional war is it's very slow moving until it isn't.

Kill the head of the snake….heres a clue it ain’t Zelenskyy…….

It's very possible that the only way to end this war is to simply get rid of Putin. Sanctions are not going to make a difference, and Trump does not possess much in the way of power or influence when it comes to Putin. He simply considers Trump his lap dog and will continue to ignore him and treat him like a goon and a gullible fool.

Remember, he likely has the Moscow under aged gals orgy tapes.

Trump unknowingly threw out 50 figure earlier.

That day,  Sept 3, 2025  will be Putin time with Xi in beijing.  Trump is not invited joining.

Now Trump changed 50-Day deadline, which happened to be Sept 3, 2025,  to save face,  save Trump own face.

They will not bother Putin because it are empty claims from Trump.

How many times has he put sanctions, followed by a TACO, on Russia already?

There is also publicly available evidence that the US buys Russian oil, and probably other things as well, on the black market

You don’t have the cards. Remember this? Well USA/EU have been told this, albeit gently.

No that won't work. Trump should demand that Europe honour the Minsk Agreement.

Remember Trump saying I'd end this in a week ?
