Water barrel in back of pickup for Thai NY

I have a couple of mates coming to Thailand for Songkran and might get a water barrel for the back of the pickup to drive them around for a while, can anyone tell me where to get a barrel, best area/streets to go etc. and any other advice apart from the obvious drink driving stuff.

Cheers

I've seen them for sale in Mae Sai and in Narathiwat.

You should be able to find them available somewhere between.

My advice would be to stay at home for a week.

Wonder if the rules will be the same as last year with no water splashing being allowed...........Songkran 2019 was the last year that the water throwing, spraying, and debauchery was in play throughout the country.  Since 2020 it has been pretty much curtailed.  One can only wonder what will occurr this year with Songkran now on the list for consideration as an intangible cultural heritage......water throwing is not part of the original Songkran fesitivities......so one has to understand things might not be allowed until they obtain this UNESCO Heritage listing.

The government did say that water splashing WOULD be allowed at least in Pattaya, but of course it's a long time until April.

We use a large plastic dustbin which normally houses my used beer cans.

Put it in the truck before filling it (I know, I know, but ...).

Adding ice cubes to it as well, right?

One giant ice-cube from the local ice-house lasts longer and will chill several refills. ????

Gotta free the nipple!

Pretty sure this has been banned since before covid lockdowns.........you might providing a nice little earner for the local constabulary if you do it.

That article is from 2013!!

Last time we did splashing was in 2019 in Pathum Thani centre, police were in attendance of course directing traffic (and generally being nice guys).

Of course I can't find the recent thread saying that "splashing" would be permitted this year.

As you posted in General sub forum bit hard to know the streets to recommend, and the wife/ GF can tell you where to buy them, or can find out.

I guess I will just need to keep watching the news until April then decide on plan of action

Oh dear. This epitomizes everything that is wrong with the once lovely Thai tradition, bastardized by Foreigners into an absolute sham and disgusting spectacle. I could say good luck but I really don't mean it.
