OneMoreFarang
I need to fix the handles and mechanisms of the windows in my condominium. I just received a quotation, and it is just ridiculous. So now I look at DIY and maybe I will get another quote. What I like to know from the knowable forum members is where to buy the window handles and mechanism. And are there certain standard sizes which fit everywhere? Or what do I need to measure to find the correct items. And are there established brand names for these parts? Who? And I also like to clean the aluminum frames. Someone suggested turpentine. Is that a good choice? Here are some pictures about the current situation. I guess it is obvious what I like to change and repair. Thanks
Popular Post Crossy
The hinge mechanisms will be happy with a good squirt of an aerosol grease (not WD-40) unless they are actually busted. For the locks, pop one off and start visiting hardware stores, many will know where to go if they don't actually have them. The old girl in our "Magic Shop" knows everyone. Turn up with a thingy-doowaddle and if she hasn't got one hiding out back, a man will arrive shortly on a motorcycle with the relevant article. 2
Mavideol
have the same ones and they are a standard size, had to replace 4 windows and went to a local shop that sells aluminum doors/windows and screens.... but I live down south small city and easy to find local installers selling this stuff, try Home Pro or any place installing/replacing windows you may get lucky
