I just realized that my visa expired today rather than tomorrow, its a 2+1 month visa, I leave Thailand in 15 days, will it be possible to go to immigration tomorrow, pay the 500 fine, then extend the visa for a month, or will they just tell me to ###### off?

Cheers

Did your visa expire or your immigration stamp admitted until pass today?

Were you here for 60+30 or are you saying you were only here for 60 and want to make the 30 day extension?

If you have been here 90 days the only extension available would have been 7 days. But if you are on overstay I do not believe that will be available.

I've just stayed here for 61 days, and was going to go and extend it tomorrow for a month thinking it was out on the 3rd not the 2nd!!!!

Any ideas if I can still get the month after paying the fine?

This is very unfortunate as you could have done this last week or before and not of had any problem. You can try and I hope that you have success.

If they can not do believe they will advise you to immediately leave (you should have your ticket with you). Remember that on overstay you could be detained if checked by regular police for anything. Recommend exit is from airport as border runs do run a greater risk of police checks during travel.

I think I'll give the immigration office a go, see how it goes!

I agree with Lopburi, better to leave, now, via the airport.

However let us know what happens.

I can't recall a border run where I didn't get checked on the way.

I remember a very abusive older German gentleman at immigration complaning about having to pay an overtstay because he wanted to extend his visa.

The upshot of it all was that they kindly told him he needed to pay the overstay and after that if he fited into a category for which an extension was possible, he would be given one. He got his extension!

Do not get caught overstaying as it is not fun and can cause real pain and severe inconvenience.

Beejoir, If your visa expires on the weekend (when the immigration office is closed) you can go the next business day to get an extension and they will not charge you an overstay fine or make a notation in your passport. You can call the immigration hotline +1111 and they will confirm this. Still, preferable to go before the original 60 day tourist visa expires. Let us know how it goes.

Moderation edit: Off topic. Beejoir wrote clearly that his permission to stay expired Monday, not on a weekend. Maestro

Cool that is the way it normally is!  Just don't be abusive. Be penitent, with cap in hand or you will be put in the slammer.  I have seen this happen to a abusive Dutchman.  3 weeks in the IDC and sent back to cold old A'dam!

I wonder for how many days they would extend this courtesy?

My visa came back only with a 30 day transit visa and a red stamp asking me not to return to Penang for a Visa.

I'm not too bothered as it will force me to sort myself out but for many others they are a bit fuc_ked.
