Siam Rath reported that Bang Khun Thian police in western Bangkok were informed of the heart attack death of a P6 (last grade of primary school) child at a well known school in the area.

In class 6/3 Pao, 12, lay dead. Teachers and other students were understandably in shock.

The 6/3 homeroom teacher Sathian Yomhong, said the students were undergoing end of semester examinations.

At about 12.30 pm when the children were doing their third exam of the day the boy's fellow students noticed him rocking in his chair. He then fell over.

Opening his shirt they saw a large scar where he had had heart valve surgery two years prior.

Since then he had been fine and his friends did not know about his heart disease.

Despite the CPR efforts of expert medical staff at the school he died in the classroom.

His mother Kanokkan said that he had been fine after his surgery and was like any other child, strong and exercising normally. He had had heart trouble since birth.

An autopsy took place at Sirirat Hospital and Pao would be taken to Wat Singh for a funeral starting today.
