INN reported that residents of Nakhon Ratchasima in north eastern Thailand were happy that two road tunnels will be built to help with traffic congestion.

They are planned to be finished by 2025 at a total cost in excess of 1 billion baht.

Building will start either at the end of this year or beginning of next and is slated to last 360 days.

The first tunnel will be between Mitraphap Highway and Route 224 at the Nakhon Ratchasima intersection (Big C) at a cost of 480 million baht and with a length of 1.181 km. It will be in one direction only (two lanes) enabling motorists coming from Khon Kaen to turn right heading to Bangkok.

The other is to be built at the Ban Pradok intersection (Pegasus) and will be 1.75 kilometers long at a cost of 850 million baht. This will have three lanes in both directions.
