BANGKOK, March 2 (TNA) – A lucky person won a whopping 102 million baht (about 2.9 million USD) from his 17 digital lottery tickets yesterday.

The newly-made millionaire bought 17 tickets with the same number 417652 which was drawn on March 1 as the lottery's first prize of six million baht.

Director of the Government Lottery Office, Nun Sansanakhom said the jackpot winner received a record 102 million baht after 96 million baht won by one person, holding 16 winning lottery tickets of the first prize in the Dec 1 draw last year.

So the reasoning behind multiple tickets is you get a bigger share of the pot if someone else has the same numbers but fewer tickets?

Both those winners seemed to receive multiples of 6 million. Each winning ticket (Top Prize) is worth 6,000,000 baht.  I'd always thought there were printed in  packs of 6, meaning only 6 Top Ticket Winners each drawing.

If I won 102 million you'd need a special camera with ultra fast shutter speed to take a photo.

Yes.

No clue how Thai lottery works, but in other countries it is almost impossible to win. Maybe I should try next time in Thailand. Or would they say, you cant win, you are a farang.
