The DOJ says the Louisville Metro Police Department routinely violated civil rights, conducted unlawful searches and discriminated against Black people and people with behavioral health disabilities.

The sweeping findings came out of a two-year investigation that also found Louisville officers conducted unlawful searches and discriminated against Black people.

The federal government began investigating the department after the police killing of Breonna Taylor during a botched raid in 2020, and her death led to a wave of national protests against police brutality.

It's becoming clear that the US has a policing problem.  Many of these cities are plagued by police departments with an extremely toxic work environment.

I suspect the toxicity is exacerbated by the huge number of guns circulating in the public.  I certainly wouldn't want to face the danger that many officers face.
