Thalang – Restaurants, beach beds, and umbrellas were found by Thaland officials to be encroaching on Lay Phang Beach in Cherng Talay.

On Thursday (March 30th) a team of officials led by the Thalang District Chief Bancha Tanuin inspected Lay Phang Beach.

Mr. Bancha told the Phuket Express that officials have checked local beaches for encroachment at least once a month. Beaches are considered public land and any sort of private encroachment by business owners is strictly prohibited unless special permission is granted.

Officials found beach beds and umbrellas on the beach and the operators have been asked to remove those items from the beach. Although many tourists enjoy these amenities, they lead to a “domino effect” say authorities of many more vendors trying to encroach and therefore as a general rule all private businesses and encroachment is prohibited.

Burn them all in a big pile.

The vendors will get the message.

Public area??? I thought that belongs to the city, so why not give pieces of land for a good rent to the beach bed and umbrella  so they can earn a living pay for the permission, and tourist can sit in the shade... Everybody happy

Well, they can’t be looking hard ! I’ve seem photos around the south end of chairs right down to the waters edge there are so many people !!! Taken this last high season , and one lately.

Tut tut! THEY have the special permission mentioned in the article. It's  a bureaucratic process requiring the submission of Form THB1000 in multiple copies.
