Songkran celebrations turn sour: Over 100 lives lost, 1,000 injured in road accidents

According to the Director General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Boontham Lertsukheekasem, 114 fatalities and 1,064 injuries were recorded due to road accidents nationwide during the Songkran holiday. Between Tuesday and Thursday, there were 1,055 traffic incidents leading to these casualties a report today revealed.

Thailand – A total of 437 road accidents, with 49 deaths and 448 injuries, were reported by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) on the third day of the Seven Days of Danger road safety campaign during Songkran.

2023 Hanami Festival Opens at Japanese Village in Ayutthaya

BANGKOK (NNT) - The 2023 Hanami Festival at the Japanese Village in Ayutthaya province has officially opened and will run until the 16th of April. This year’s festival features the annual cherry-blossom viewing, known as Hanami, as well as a host of other Japanese cultural activities and a weekend market.

Successful crackdown at Pathum Thani Songkran festival: Nearly 20 knives and weapons seized by officials

Pathum Thani's Klong Luang district held a two-day Songkran festival, but it wasn't all fun and games. In an effort to promote safety and prevent violence, officials set up checkpoints around Khlong Sam Road to check for weapons and drunk drivers.

Chiang Rai had the most hotspots on Friday – GISTDA

Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Rai had the highest number of hotspots on Friday, with 206, while PM2.5 levels in 40 provinces, mostly in northern and north-eastern provinces, exceed Thailand’s 50-micron safety level today (Saturday).
