Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha surprised many Songkran revellers on Khao San Road this afternoon (Friday), sporting a colourful shirt and wielding a water gun.

 

He told reporters that it was the first time in 50 years, since he joined the military, that he has celebrated Songkran in such an atmosphere and described the experience as fun, adding that he might return next Songkran.

 

Accompanied by Pirapan Salirathavibhaga and Akanat Promphan, leader and secretary-general of the United Thai Nation party respectively, the prime minister greeted numerous revellers and, at times, squirted water at them.

At least at this occasion he is allowed to shoot ... Lot's of fun ...?

No matter if one like the PM or not, or it's close to an election, it's always cool when a country's leader care to play and have fun with the nation's population...

I celebrated SongKran at home today in the traditional family fashion.

 

No water guns or bodyguards needed.

 

The only I was unhappy about was that I had just had a shower and clean clothes.

 

No big problem as I got the other stuff from the laundry bin.

 

I could have done without the cool shower though.

 

Used less than 5 litres of water, unlike himself.

Preparing his aim for after May 14. THen the real water cannons will be rolled onto the streets.

Well done Khun Prayut .....   good to see him out on the street with ordinary kids and the elderly having fun.

As leader he has to emphasise that high-power water guns are banned. In the hands of his running mate, the Brown Bladder, this would be a dribble which is what I would expect rom the PP Party. ????

what a buzzkill that PR appearance must have been for people genuinely having fun.
