Nakhon Nayok - Lieutenant Colonel Narakorn Sakdisak, the Superintendent of Pak Phli Police Station, revealed that they organized a project called "Community Volunteer Police" in Nakhon Nayok province.

The program aimed to involve community volunteers who had previous experience as police volunteers, as well as those who newly joined the community police, in order to promote community participation in police work. A total of 23 individuals participated in this initiative, reported Siam Rath.

Aligned with the policy of the Royal Thai Police, this project aimed to enhance local participation and cooperation in crime prevention, law enforcement, and the maintenance of peace and security within their respective communities.

The volunteers were tasked with various responsibilities, including vigilance, reporting incidents to the police, providing initial response in emergencies, and securing the crime scene before the arrival of the relevant authorities.

To facilitate their duties, a training session titled "Community Volunteer Police" was conducted at the Pak Phli District Meeting Hall. During the initial phase, the participants were briefed on working alongside police officers at checkpoints, conducting community patrols, and ensuring security during festive events.

Following that, they received training and practical demonstrations on the use of batons as a means to subdue potential threats. The training was conducted by a specialized task force and instructors.

Captain Supachart Phanthonmin, Deputy Superintendent of Pak Phli Police Station, mentioned that the use of batons for apprehending suspects had become widespread due to its effectiveness in neutralizing dangerous individuals.

The advantage of this tool is that volunteer officers do not need to approach the perpetrators closely, reducing the risk of physical harm.

It enables the volunteers to restrain individuals armed with sharp weapons, intoxicated individuals, drug addicts, and those exhibiting disruptive behavior who may pose a constant threat to the officers. The batons used have long handles and a looped end, designed to capture the suspect safely.

The operational team consisted of five personnel, equipped with four batons and one riot shield for self-defense. With the batons, they could exert force against the suspects, pushing them against walls, fences, or the ground, allowing for their safe apprehension.

The training and demonstration of baton usage for volunteer police officers serve as an additional measure in community policing, aligning with the vision of Police General Ittipol Ittisarnronchai, Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 2, who stated that "the success of police work lies in the peace and happiness of the people."

By involving community members as volunteer officers, the Pak Phli Police Station aims to create a safer and more peaceful environment, as well as strengthen the bond between the police and the community they serve.
