Pattaya, Thailand-A 44-year-old Indian tourist drowned in a hotel swimming pool last night, June 13th, 2023.

The incident occurred at 8:30 PM at a popular hotel in South Pattaya. The name of the hotel was withheld by Pattaya police, however, pending a further investigation of the incident.

The victim, Mr. Vivek Kumar, 44, was identified by Pattaya police after informing those close to him of the incident. According to a witness, Mongkhon Wichasawat, 22, Mr. Kumar had been playing in the pool with an Indian female, whose name was withheld, when he suddenly sank to the bottom of the pool.

More to this perhaps ? Usually in a drowning, the person panics and flails away until they go under.

They don't sink like a rock without any struggle

Cramp ??

I understand the refractive properties of water but from the picture, which appears to show the 'deep' end, that doesn't look very deep at all and he was with company. I wonder if something is lost in translation here and there were other medical problems involved, rather than a drowning ?

Could be many things, other health events like a faint, stroke, heart, foot on his head.

Yeah, in the whole body at the same time. Possible brain freeze, though. ???? Better guess might be a bad reaction of low quality sex-pills in combination with alcohol and a weak heart.

I never knew this was a health hazard.  Does it apply to Thai females?

What do we learn from it?  - - >  Don't play with an Indian female in the pool.

The reason why I asked was it said he sunk to the bottom of the pool.

Not to the bottom of the puddle.

Kick in the nuts, sharp intake of breath/water......

It must be quite deep as they have a springboard at that end,

We'd like to draw conclusions, show some sagacity (as usual) here, but the article is too dry...

So, dry rip my guy.

Check the pool lights electrics.

Yeah. There has been an update. And it still points to that imo

Initially, the woman and other onlookers believed that Kumar was joking around, as he had been diving and playing for some time. However, when he failed to resurface after about a minute, witnesses raised the alarm and called for security assistance.

That and another report I saw say he was diving in, which brings another possibility into consideration.

Well if he had been playing in the water for some time....This says he was no stranger to swiming.....So he must have hit botton diving....Had a heart attack....Or was kept underwater.....
