Police swooped on a Thai woman who used a fake registration plate on her BMW sedan to illegally waive toll fees more than 260 times.

 

The arrest was made at Thanyaburi and Thab Chang Tollgate yesterday, June 26. The Highway Police had installed an automatic license reading system at these toll gates specifically to identify vehicles suspected of dodging toll charges. The targeted vehicle was a black BMW 520d displaying a red registration plate with the number ก 8888.

 

With the assistance of the license reading system, the police closely monitored the car and established checkpoints at frequent passing spots. Their efforts paid off when they successfully captured the 35 year old driver, identified as Thanatsupha. Following an investigation and interrogation, it was revealed that the registration plate on the BMW was counterfeit and had been used to avoid toll fees more than 260 times, accumulating a cost of over 7,000 baht.

The 888 was not her lucky number.

Losers and crooks driving luxury cars !!!!

I know a few Thais with Chinese heritage doing similar stuff. One wealthy friend siphons petrol from her company car into her brand new benz. They can afford it but if they can break the rules to gain financial advantage they often do. 

Give her a break. She is so poor she cannot afford shoes

Unbelievable, she paid what for the BMW 3-4 million ? but goes to those lengths to save a 50 baht toll fee.

Which lengths? All she did was drive through the M-Flow lane, it was actually the easiest thing to do.

Red plated cars can't be registered for M-Flow, so she would have had to use the regular toll booths (cash or Easy Pass), using the M-Flow lane saved her time.

She probably thought that due to the fake license plate she would not be caught.

 

According to the signs posted the fine for avoiding tolls is 10 times the actual fee, so in this case she should have to pay a 70k fine.

I admire the effectiveness of the police, assuming the woman made a return journey to work from Monday to Friday. It took them nearly 6 months of close monitoring, using an ANPR system to catch a woman with fake red plate, Kor Kai 8888. Great work guys! 

She blended in with the red plate ok almost invisible ????
