Jumbo1968
I am thinking of buying car, I have been looking at car adverts, they sellers encourage credit, I am a cash buyer, when I enquired at one garage if I paid cash I would to pay 7% VAT. over and above the advertised price, are used cars prices normally advertised net of VAT ? JBChiangRai
Dealers have to pay 7% VAT on the sales price of secondhand vehicles. Sometimes they will discount. Sometimes they will also do that if you’re paying on credit because they make a lot more in commission.

My point is some dealers are advertising cars but when you enquire the price doesn’t include tax. All dealers want you to credit no matter where in the world, it’s their bread and butter. vinny41
It Depends if the dealer has purchased the car or if the dealer is just displaying the car on their forecourt for the current owner (owner pays fee to dealer for this service) If the Dealer has purchased the car then 7% is payable sometimes the dealer includes the vat within the ticket price sometimes its extra If the dealer hasn't purchased the car then they put you in touch with the seller At the moment there are 1.666 cars on one2car that vat is not required
