His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn presided over the opening of the Parliament Monday, saying that how well the country prospers will depend on the MPs, who should consider the benefit of the country and the people as the utmost priorities.

“I would ask all parliamentary members to remind themselves that they have been assigned by the people to represent the entire country in exercising their legislative power and to govern and enact laws in consideration of this principle in the administration of state affairs,” the King told the audience.

He said, therefore, that how well the country will prosper will depend on the MP’s intelligence, competence and honesty in carrying out their duties, keeping benefit to the nation and the people as their utmost priority.
