In a recent surge against corruption, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) confirmed the sentencing of Prayudh Mahagitsiri, a well-known tycoon, to two years and eight months imprisonment with the charge linked to an infamous land encroachment scandal. The judgement was passed by the Region 8, Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases.

Niwatchai Kasemmongkol, who serves as the secretary-general of the commission, stated that the court found the millionaire and ten other former land officials in Krabi blamable for unlawfully granting title deeds for state land.

The prime allegation is that around 19 rai of land in the Mueang district has been wrongly titled.

“The court established that Prayudh had a prominent role in abetting these state officials in their illegal deeds title issuance,” disclosed Nitwatchai.

Penalising the offenders involved in this land scandal, the court initially sentenced one defendant to serve a jail term of six years. Additional culprits, including Prayudh, were handed down a jail sentence of four years each, added Nitwatchai. Considering the confessions made by the defendants, the court subsequently consented to commute the sentences.

Cue the appeals process followed by a 'fine'.  Millionaires don't do time in Thailand (unless they've upset someone higher up.)

Tip of a gargantuan iceberg.

another day....... another multi million baht scandal.

An example for Settha??

I doubt he'll ever see the inside of a prison.....far too big to jail!

1. The anti corruption committee is not a serious organization. They rarely ever get convictions resulting in prison time. So, corruption is NOT being taken seriously under this current administration.

2. Will these creeps actually serve time in prison? That remains to be seen.

Well didn't they confess to get the sentences commuted which means no appeal...?

Anyhow... bet a Friday night drunk gets more time in jail!

Really? I thought they were far too busy covering up corruption.

This is why they have refused to reveal the details about Prawit's watch scandal, even after being ordered to do so by the Supreme Court.

Then went to the local Benz dealer to choose which color they wanted.

If he got 4 years and ir was commuted over 19 rai of land.

What punishment should the coup generals who stole the whole country, deserve?

My money is on that he won't spend a moment in gaol.????????
