August 11, 20232 yr Today, I received this email (screenshot) which says it is from security@facebookmail dot com. Looks legit and it was sent to both my normal email address and the one I use for FB recovery. I haven't made a reset password request and my account is working normally. I also don't click on links I'm unsure of. Anyone else had something similar recently?
August 11, 20232 yr Popular Post No, but don't touch any link there, delete the email, go to FB and change your PW, just in case....☺️
August 11, 20232 yr The mail is from facebook but I never use such links. Better go directly via your account...
August 11, 20232 yr As said, login to Facebook and change your password. and follow this guide to enable 2FA. https://www.facebook.com/help/148233965247823 edit: what is 2FA? https://authy.com/what-is-2fa/ Edited August 11, 20232 yr by MJCM
August 11, 20232 yr Author Popular Post Following up, I did change my password and among other devices it invited me to log out from was one in London. So I'm guessing it was a scam. I got the usual email from FB after changing the password, checking that I had done it.
August 11, 20232 yr That one from London could also be that you logged into Facebook while using a VPN

August 11, 20232 yr Never...NEVER click on any link via email, no matter how official it looks. Far better as suggested by others to check on the real website or better to give them a call. Even on a Mac nowdays, all the viruses and piracy seems to increase, considering the price drops on Apple computers.

August 12, 20232 yr It looks to me that someone tried to reset your Facebook password, and Facebook wanted to verify that it was you. I think it did come from Facebook. That said, I would not click on any link in that email, in case that it was not legitimate. Always go to the website directly.
