For some reason all of the local birds seem to think that my house is the best place around to call home and perpetually give me a ton of unsightly dropping on my roof as well as sidewalks etc.

Has anyone dealt with this and been able to sucessfully keep the majority away?  Hopefully there is a peaceful solution to this, but if not, any idea of where to get a bb gun or wrist rocket to shoo these pests away.

BTW I am in Phuket.

As mentioned ina previous thread GET A CAT!!!! :o Nignoy

Problem is I have 2 rai of land, a few different buildings, 12 meter high roofs and 60 kilo dogs so a cat or two is not the solution.

Does chatuchak sell wrist rockets or bb guns?

well, with dogs and cats in an enclosed land with no way to flee and get out for the cats their lifespan (the cat's one) will not be very long, maybe they die even before they have actually killed one bird...

why not put up some scarecrows and even put them on your roof :D you can equip them with fancy clothes and hairstyles so they will be a nice looker :D

actually have the same problem here, my dogs don't give a birdss*** about the birds and the droppings are everywhere, also in the dogs drinking water and a fence is the preferred spot of the birds and always covered in their droppings :o scarecrows would be a nice toy for my dogs though and be ripped in pieces before too long... :D

Use to get paid to install plastic owls on roofs and buildings in UK to deter birds, it works.

Wonder if the birds here know what an owl is.  I haven't seen any in my years here, but that sure sounds like a decent option if the smaller birds knew to fear owls.

I had dogs that hated cats. But, I got a kitten to handle a rat problem. About two weeks and they were all pals.

who - the kitten and the rats? :D:o

Any decent sized model of a bird of prey should do the trick, same as sticking a model heron by a fish pond to stop the real ones having all the fish away.

There are owls here, I've had one fly into my house and one perched on my laundry line at night.

There are also hawks and eagles (we get sea eagles outside our house on a regular basis). But I don't know that they have the fake ones to deter other birds available in Thailand tho.

Dunno if you have the same prob I had but the birds were sitting on the mouldings above the windows and in the guttering that was permanently in the shade so......took off the guttering and replaced the mouldings with the flat type, solved 90% of the problem, particularly with the pigeons.....flying rats like to sit in the shade!!
