In a concerted effort led by immigration authorities, Nakhon Nayok Province has intensified its actions against illegal foreign nationals while simultaneously promoting tourism-friendly policies.

On September 16, 2023, following the directives of Lieutenant General Phakphoom Pisit, the Commander of the Nakhon Nayok Province Police, and under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Waritsiri Leelasi, Chief of Immigration Police Division 3, a rigorous inspection and apprehension operation targeted foreign individuals in violation of immigration laws, reported Siam Rath.

This operation aims to encourage compliance with immigration regulations and boost the region's appeal to tourists.

The authorities sought to identify and apprehend foreign nationals who had entered the city unlawfully and engaged in aggressive public relations activities while staying in various accommodations like guesthouses, hotels, and resorts.

Part of the promotion of these tourist-friendly policies involves the reporting of foreign guests' stays through an online system, as mandated by Sections 37 and 38 of the Immigration Act, designed to facilitate investigations and support foreign nationals.

Recently, in collaboration with the local police station, Nakhon Nayok authorities apprehended Mr. [Fictitious Name], a 58-year-old Cambodian national, and Ms. [Fictitious Name], a 43-year-old Cambodian national, for working without the required permits or exceeding their authorized rights.

The suspects were subsequently handed over to immigration authorities for further legal action.

Simultaneously, immigration authorities provided guidance on reporting foreign nationals' stays in residential areas, dormitories, hotels, and resorts, emphasizing compliance with Sections 37 and 38 of the Immigration Act and offering online procedures for convenience.

Sure... doesn't it make you feel welcome when police stop you demanding to see passport and checking that you are complying with their laws?

In the 30 years that I have been working, holidaying and living in Thailand, other than the Immigration police, no policemen has ever asked for, let alone demanded to see my passport

That's pretty much nonsensical. They'll be sent back to Cambodia, then pay someone to traffic them to Thailand again, helped by corrupt Thai officials at the border. Rinse and repeat.

Gross. Siam Rath hitting a new low in editorial BS. And AN playing along with it. A couple busted for selling fruit without a permit? Everybody cheer when the underdog gets kicked.

Plus, by my count, there appears to be more than TEN various police / government / military folks in the OP's first photo surrounding that very dangerous looking couple sitting in front of them... It's a wonder they didn't call out the SWAT team as well!  :1zgarz5:
