BANGKOK (NNT) - The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) is investigating ways to support Thai laborers who have returned from Israel.

The initiative is led by Deputy Minister of Finance Julapun Amornvivat, who discussed the initiative while on a visit to the northern province of Chiang Mai.

According to Deputy Minister Julapun, the BAAC will review the names of those affected to determine what kind of help can be offered. Possibilities include debt deferral and immediate living support.

If affected individuals meet Cabinet-approved criteria, they will be eligible for these measures. In special cases, additional help will be considered. A detailed report is expected in two weeks.

In the event of a death resulting from the mentioned conflicts, debt forgiveness may be considered.

At the time of this report, 28 Thais have been killed in the violence that erupted along the Israel-Gaza border on October 7th, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

How about a new job in a safe country?

  • Popular Post

How about fixing the economy instead of giving free money away.

Besides, it was their choice to go to the country that is the festering sore of the world for work. I'm sorry it didn't work out but that's life.

I'm with Jelli on this. It was their choice to go to a war zone to work. Make them use the money they earned there to pay for their mistake. None of those standing in line seem to be injured, let Tham work in Thailand to pay back their flights etc,.

As said last week the priority of repatriation will in no way be as important as recovering your debts even if you are dead ????

With the workers  monthly transfers from Israel to Thailand halted, the family beneficiaries will be unable to pay for instalments on property and vehicles. Welcome to loss of face.

I actually with what Biden said recently on this one. A government's job is to protect and take care of its citizens, and as such the Thais should be returned too.

A bunch of ignorant posts here.

Having no idea why these people go to work overseas and not studying the world risk map before.

Thousands will stay anyway.

Work in Thailand...

Safe country...

Their mistake...

Unbelievable ignorance.

You are correct, especially considering that some of the posters here worked in terrorist Arab countries so that they can now enjoy Thailand and sit behind the keyboard judging others.

Note that they were recruited by the Ministry of Labor, as part of the Government - to - Government scheme agreed to by Thailand and Israel.

The Thai government is complicit in this worker relo program so it only makes sense that they offer some sort of debt relief.
