I've been in Thailand off and on for the better part of two years, doing primarily tsunami relief work. Met my girlfriend in BKK. She's a homeowner, good job and educated. She is currently with me in California on a tourist visa. She's been here for two months and we return together to Thailand in early September. I'm 48 and not retired. My bank account is less than 800K Baht.

We are getting married in California in two weeks.

I know we need a NON-O and I know the fees. What I am unclear on is this:

1. Do I need to provide proof of income first? What if I am unemployed at this time (first time in decades).

2. My wife-to-be has a job waiting for her in Thailand, income less than 40K baht.

3. What financial docs should I take to the consul in addition to obvious applications, etc.

4. Anyone have experience at the LA Thai consul with mulitple-entry NON-O visas?? Recently???

It was a breeze for her to get her tourist visa at the US consul in BKK. I hope its as easy for me to get my NON-O to return.

Thanks for this forum, its a plethura of info!!

1. Not a normal requirement.

2. So you will not be able to stay on extension until/if you get job at a level to make the 40k family level.

3. They may want to see a ticket but that varies from place to place and often not required of residents. I would take what you have for financial backing as some Consulates now will issue multi if they see some money to back it up.

4. Believe we have a recent report of success but in general most people recommend using the Honorary Consulates for multi entry issue. I would give them (HC's) a call first.

If your bank account has 400k (even if in US) you should be able to obtain a multi entry in Singapore and probably Penang, Malaysia.
