German tourist killed in bus accident in Ayutthaya

AYUTTHAYA: -- A German tourist was killed when a Bangkok-bound bus from Phetchabun overturned in this central province early Tuesday morning, police said.

The bus overturned on Phaholyothin Road in Wang Noi district at 5 am.

Police said the bus driver, Sanan Pongsiang, 35, told police that he dozed off, causing the bus to lose control and overturn.

The German tourist died at the scene, police said, adding that 23 other passengers were injured.

The Bangkok Post said the driver lost control during a heavy downpour.

My condolences to the family and friends of the victim. Hope there is a name and additional information soon.

There's a news story with more information in this thread http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=131237

Kurt Bocsynski, 53, of Essen, Germany, was the sole fatality in the crash.

The German national, a resident in Thailand for the past seven years, was travelling to Bangkok with his Thai wife Samniang to renew his passport and visa.

"We were married for 25 years,'' Samniang told Deutsche Presee-Agentur dpa. "After Kurt retired from his job in Germany seven years ago we moved to Petchabun and have been living there.''

My condolences to the family

Tragic. :o Condolences to his family and friends.

Careful driving out there during rainy season. Get your tires and brakes checked often.
