On November 6th, 2023, Mr. Danainut Chokamnuay, the Assistant Minister of Industry, and relevant officials stated to Thai national media about signature transportation in Chiang Mai: Red Trucks.

 

Danainut publicly revealed that Chiang Mai is one of the unique cities that conserve its culture and natural environment aspects in a fascinating way. Red trucks or red taxis are public transportation units that have been with Chiang Mai for a long time.

 

“Therefore, it is advised to promote a policy from the Thai government to replace combustion public transportation with electric vehicles like other urban cities’ transportation. However, the identity that pictures Chiang Mai local transportation should remain, and we are committed to keeping the red trucks, but in an electric form.” said Danainut.

Never underestimate the government to employ some stupid strategy.  They are changing the red cars to EV's to reduce pollution but taking no steps to curtail the real cause of pollution in Chaing Mai  the farmers with the fires. 

Rotfl. Can anyone see the mafia that controls this industry being even one percent interested in pollution. The only thing they care about is ensuring that the city never has an effective public transport system that would wipe these leeches off the face of the earth.

Your post showcases the same mindless drivel touted by mass media.  80% of fires in the province are National Park forest, not agricultural. 

 

Rod Daeng's emit noxious gases, chemical pollution, which is far more dangerous than bushfire smoke-particulate.

Why stupid strategy? Changing to EV is excellent for pollution, and I don't know what is the connection with the fires. They are confined to 2 months of the year, they are mostly in forests not agricultural, and this year there seem to be serious initiatives to contain the problem (check "stick and carrot" policy).

 

Whether they will actually succeed in the conversion to EV is another story, given the rot daeng owners' mafia, I wish them success.

Or, the rapid, uncontrolled urban sprawl ovner it's countryside?
