Was it Central on the beach? Getting new passport takes a few days when sent by EMS. In urgent cases go to Chaeng Wattana in Bangkok. Morning to afternoon service for a surcharge. Apparently someone will collect the passport from where it is delivered and bring it back to the UK. Anyway she is off to Central as I type. My son renewed his Thai passport earlier this year in Pattaya. He was doing his nation service in Thai army at the time, and was told he could send the passport to any address.
