Hi Guys,

The Indonesian Embassy web site says the application needs "Two supporting letters, each from the applicant's firm in Thailand and the applicant's sponsor/counterpart in Indonesia".

Has anyone tried this and how long does it take?

I don't have a firm in Thailand, what to do in this case? My firm is based in Singapore, do I need to apply there or can it be done in BKK?

BUSINESS VISA

Maximum length of stay in Indonesia is 60 days. Requests for Business Visas are submitted to the Indonesian Consulate General by filling out the appropriate forms (2 copies for each person) and enclosing: 1. Passport (still valid at least 6 months from the date of submission) for single entry, and 18 months for multiple entries.

2. Two 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm colour Passport photographs

3. Letter of recommendation from a sponsor in Indonesia

4. Letter of Employment & letter of recommendation from the applicants firms (stating the duration and the purpose of the Visit as well as responsibility of accommodation/maintenance costs)

6. Proof of a return ticket, or a ticket to continue travel to another country (or Travel itinerary issued by a Travel Agent)

Note:

This visa is given by the Indonesian Consulate to applicants visiting Indonesia for normal business activities (including attending a conference/seminar).

To attend a conference/seminar a letter/invitation from the conference host setting out details, including nature, duration and programme of the conference/seminar.

Visa is issued within 5 (five) working days from receipt of application providing all documents are in order. For visiting restricted regions need more than five working days or after receiving approval from the Immigration Authorities.

This is from the Indonesian website for Oz, I have deleted the parts pertaining to Oz so as not to confuse.

To try and answer your question...you need a letter from your firm in Singapore and a sponsor in Indonesia, you can apply at the Indonesian Embassy in Thailand. It will take about 5 working days to process if the application is complete. I dont think it matters where you fly in from as long as you have a letter from a firm outside of Indonesia.

The cost is about 1800 THB

Dont have any experience with this sort of request, so I am just going on what I have read, Mybe a call or trip the Indonesian Embassy in BKK would be an idea to ensure that you go about it the right way.

Thanks for the detailed reply.

I tried calling the Bangkok Embassy but no one answers the phone on any of the extensions listed on their web site! I've sent an email, I wonder if they will ever reply. If I had the time I would go to the embassy myself, but that isn't an option.

Maybe I'll just go to Singapore, as I know it only takes a day to get the business visa there. Ah well.

Cheers

Update - the BKK embassy finally answered the phone! It takes two working days and costs 45USD, one letter from Indonesian sponsor and two photos.

Also, their email address on the web site bounced back as invalid so don't bother there!
