The cabinet is considering a proposal from the National Human Rights commission  to raise the minimum age of marriage from 17 to 18 which would be in line with international guidelines. 

The Human rights commission says compliance among Islamic leaders will be essential especially where forced childhood marriage is concerned.

 

The Eastern Economic Corridor will see the development of a new business center by 2027 and smart city that will generate over 200,000 jobs in Chonburi by 2037. The new city will  attract 350,000 residents from diverse income groups. The initiative targets job creation, with an economic impact of 1.2 trillion baht and is likely to see around 300 start-ups in various  industries. This development is expected to drive economic growth, pushing GDP to 2.2 trillion baht within a decade.

 

Some 258  Myanmar detainees staged a protest inside the Ranong Immigration Office yesterday,the group demanded their release to celebrate the New Year. one man held a cardboard banner out of the window which read: Let Us Go please”. 

Thai authorities responded by urging the group to stay calm and began negotiating with the group leaders. Most would be deported back to Myanmar.
